Staff was nice and vibrant. Friendly and hospitable. Food was great. I had the Heavyweight with potatoes and a biscuit. Delish. My wife had chicken and waffles. She said the same thing. Food was good size portions. Went hungry and couldn't finish the potatoes. Wife took some chicken home as well. Venue is nice inside. Smaller seating but still good. Clean. Outside area is a little Detroit. Lots of homeless but they were friendly saying hello and stepping aside to get down the sidewalk. Overall a must for breakfast in Detroit. 5 stars.

Joe Louis Kitchen is one of those rare spots where the food speaks loudly for itself. I've eaten here multiple times--both dining in and through DoorDash--and I can honestly say the quality never slips. Whether it's the shrimp & grits or the catfish & grits, it never misses. Flavorful, fresh, and always prepared like I'm sitting right there at the table, even when I'm not. Now, I'll be honest--the service can be hit or miss depending on the day. But for me, that's never taken away from the overall experience. The food more than makes up for any small hiccups. Joe Louis Kitchen is a solid staple in my rotation, and if you haven't tried it yet... you're seriously missing out.

This was a fantastic experience. I had the original chicken and waffles and gotta say it was great. When in back in the Detroit area I'll be strong back here for sure. Our server was quick and efficient. The decor was like having a meal in the backyard with your family. It was pretty busy Sunday but it all went well. If you haven't tried this place give it a shot.

Food was really good had chicken and waffles .. chicken was nice and hot and seasoning was on point service was good. However, the wait was way way too long. They need more servers .. however our waitress did our best and did a great job .I stayed because I had a guest from out of town. And wanted to have the experience. I hope they get more staff because that would be a lot better. Ambience was beautiful because it reminded you of every Joe Louis from his backyard to a boxing ring in the middle of the waiting area, service.. it literally took 40 minutes to be seated !!! It was too long. There were empty seats, but they just did not have enough servers. I hope they hire people soon because it's worth the wait Which I usually won't don't do.

Food was great! Perfect biscuits! It's fairly quiet but a unique establishment. Service was fine. Nothing over the top. Would definitely go back to try some of their other food items! 20% Gratuity is automatically added onto checks on the weekend automatically which can def irritate some - especially with service at the table being very average.

Walked right in on a Friday 3 and sat right down. It's on Woodward just south of W. Grand Blvd. The ambiance is top tier!! Walking in looks like you're walking into a backyard, So creative on the set up. Food was great. Service was awesome. The parking is probably the biggest thing because it's paid street parking. I would definitely recommend that you bring your patience and keep your head on a swivel for a close park.

Stopped in for brunch and they didn't disappoint. The food, service and atmosphere were amazing. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more menu items. The legend would be proud of his namesake. It's a place I highly recommend.

This place is amazing! You walk in and they've got it decorated like its in the bayou somewhere, it isn't a very large dining room so if you aren't early expect to wait - we showed up around 11 and had to wait an hour. I ordered the Roxborough Omelette and a BBQ Cajun Smoked Turkey Leg, but they came back and said they had run out of the Turkey Legs, so I decided to split the Southern Cobbler French Toast with my friend instead. Everything I tasted was outstanding and everyone said their dishes were delicious. This is a great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot if you want to get stuffed on southern comfort food. Yum!!
